B App Sc (Occupational Therapy)

After completing her qualifications as an Occupational Therapist in 1979, Nikki worked at Northcott School for primary aged children with physical disabilities. She provided treatment for children with Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and other neurological conditions. She then moved to work as a sole therapist in a mainstream primary school with a specialist classroom for children with both physical and intellectual disabilities in Western Sydney.

Nikki later worked with adults in the spinal and intensive care units at Prince Henry Hospital and after this conducted work place assessments and placement of young adults with physical disabilities into the workforce.

In the late 1980’s Nikki took time away from Occupational Therapy to manage a family owned business whilst raising a family. During this time she pursued various community interests with children and young adults including talking to new mothers and their babies in hospitals and child care centers for Nursing Mothers association, teaching craft activities to infants at the local primary school, coaching the local primary school netball and basketball teams and running with visually impaired young adults.

She returned to paediatric Occupational Therapy in 2010 working with children with handwriting and learning difficulties through to developmental delay and disability.  Nikki has a special interest in engaging and motivating children to achieve their best and encouraging a positive attitude to learning. She believes in the involvement of the whole family and close consultation with teachers, other allied health professionals psychologists and Paediatricians.

She has participated in numerous professional development courses over the years to enhance her skill base and gained clinical experience in schools, hospitals, business and community settings.

Nikki is dedicated to her work with children and young adults and is an enthusiastic and energetic therapist with great commitment.
